What to blog

I usually find at least one thing to blog about per day, but I've been playing so much Guitar Hero II that I haven't really been looking around the net or doing much else.

I installed the graphics card, it's not the best card I could have bought and it's only roughly as good as an nVidia 6600, but since I'm not going to be playing any of the latest major games (except Football Manager 2008 and Championship Manager 2008, possibly others that don't need a major spec), it'll do for me. Not only that, I don't think a much higher card would run well on the 300W PSU, so it's better that I got something of below average spec.

Because of now having 2GB of RAM and the X700 gfx card, I installed the rest of The Sims expansions ... except On Holiday (On Vacation for US) which I only found out when on the neighbourhood screen, so I'll try and install it without causing too much fuss, but I get the feeling that because it wasn't installed in order, it's gonna take some time to sort it out. :(

GTA SA PC WTF LOL

I completed Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PS2 ages ago, not 100% with all tags tagged and whatever, but the main game completed. That's why just the other day, I thought I'd take a look at the PC version to see if it was any different and strangely enough, even though I've only played the first half a dozen missions, it's not too different. One thing I was a bit disappointed with was that it doesn't quite support the Xbox 360 pad. It's fine for moving around and doing stuff, but the right analogue stick doesn't work and would be ideal for looking around if it did work in the same way as on the PS2. I've kinda got used to using the keyboard and mouse now, I'm pretty handy with the keyboard when driving and can pull of some good driving skills which I couldn't do with a pad, so I guess I'll just stick to that!

How to change the R4DS theme.ini

Putting a skin on the R4DS is easy, it's just the matter of making 4 8bit or 24bit bitmap (.bmp) images, naming them correctly and transferring them onto the R4 (well, Micro SD card). Making the skin 'work' better is how the text looks and that's where the theme.ini file comes in. In that file are the 'color' commands to tell the R4 what colour text and stuff should be and this post is to show you which 'color' is for what. You can download a basic ini file from here which has the info in the pic on the right there (click for bigger pic) --> There isn't a specific way to 'tell' you how to change the theme.ini, it's just a case of opening it up in notepad and changing the values of each hex number, there's a chart below which has all the basic colours, but if you're after a more obscure colour, using a paint/photo imaging program would be more useful.
