Cheap ASDA Burgers - A Successful Failure?

I'd seen something about ASDA selling a pack of burgers for £1, but whenever I tried to get some, they were typically sold out.

I mean, who doesn't want to try some of their cheap burgers? But one day, I finally managed to get a pack to try and kind of have mixed feelings about them.

Now, as soon as I took two of them out of the pack, I instantly saw something wrong in their appearance which might fall under false advertising.

On the box, they look as though the Mexican flavouring which mostly consists of spicy cheese is actually stuffed inside the burger meat, that was the first mistake I saw.

A box of ASDA's Mexican Style burgers

The text on the box even says, "...with a melting cheese centre", but the thing is, as illustrated in the first image, it looks nothing like the burger on the box and is in fact two patties with a dollop of 'filling' in between them.

When checking the meat content, I wasn't expecting it to be very high due to the low (probably introductory) price of one Great British Pound.

So I was surprised when it said 70% beef. Then I realised that's split between the two patties, making them just 35% beef each, not as beefy as they would have you think.

The other thing I failed to notice when buying them is that they need to be cooked in the oven for up to 26 minutes. I normally grill burgers as it drains fat out, so I was a bit surprised at the need to oven cook them.

Also, at 17g of fat per "burger", they're not the healthiest, despite the apparent 14g of protein.

They taste pretty good and I suppose worth £1, but I doubt I would buy them when they go to full price which could be around £3.
