Building a Scrap Buggy in the Apocalypter Wasteland

Today we are looking at a brand new indie survival game called Apocalypter.

Full disclaimer right off the bat, the developers kindly sent me a free key to check this out.

It is a post apocalyptic survival game where your vehicle is essentially your mobile fortress.

You scavenge for scrap, bolt random parts onto your rig, and try not to die out in the dirt.

I have actually watched a few other creators play through the entire storyline and defeat all the warlords, so I honestly thought I knew exactly what to expect.

I was completely wrong. My first attempt at building my starting buggy was an absolute disaster.

For some reason, my character got stuck in a crouch position and I kept throwing punches instead of picking up car parts.

I spent a good ten minutes fighting with the interface and dropping my gear lever in the dirt before eventually just restarting my save file.

A first person view of a rusty, scrap built survival buggy parked in a barren post apocalyptic wasteland at sunset.

Once I finally managed to attach a radiator, battery, and a single headlight to my rusty scrap buggy, I set off heading east.

The skyboxes and graphics are actually stunning when the sun sets, which was a pleasant surprise.

Things took a hilarious turn when I tried to run over a group of wasteland creatures. I immediately crashed and died, ruining my progress.

Upon reloading, I decided to take my revenge by literally punching a lizard and throwing it in the car to act as a mascot.

Honestly, despite my terrible driving and clumsy fists, I am already hooked.

The ambient wasteland wind and the roar of the engines sound incredible, especially since I just tuned the equalizer on my Logitech G PRO X 2 headset specifically for this game.

The vehicle physics system that locks parts in place so they do not fall off while driving is fantastic.
