We are diving into episode 35 of Outbound today and things are getting wonderfully weird.
You already know I spend way too much time tracking indie simulation games, and this one continues to completely surprise me.
We finally got the ferry working in the last episode, and it dropped us right into a brand new, massively colourful biome packed with fresh resources.
Right off the bat, I had to figure out how to upgrade my fishing rod to catch some new local fish like the ivory scale.
The game throws so much at you immediately in this zone. Between gathering bamboo, crushing quartz rock, and hunting down blueprints for an upgraded axe, I barely had a moment to breathe.
The biggest surprises were definitely discovering a massive aerial elevator that completely caught me off guard and fixing up a huge mountain drawbridge.
The world feels so much more alive now too, especially with random groups of dancing NPCs scattered around the campsites.
I do have to apologize for sounding a bit rough in this video. I am still battling a stubborn cold, so I had to heavily rely on Shotcut to filter out some of the worst background noise and wheezing before getting this uploaded.
On the plus side, tweaking the custom EQ profiles for my new Logitech G PRO X 2 headset made all the quirky ambient sounds, dancing music, and fireworks in this new area sound absolutely incredible while I was playing.
This biome is packed with weird puzzles and vibrant trees that honestly left me speechless by the end of the recording.
